Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital offers advanced and comprehensive treatment in correcting you eye problems. ICL or Implantable Collamer Lens is one the treatment procedures available to improve the eyesight. A lens is implanted inside the eye to improve the vision; hence, ICL is also referred to as Implantable Contact Lens treatment. Collamer lens is a type of contact lens which looks and acts as the natural lens and is implanted inside the eye unlike a contact lens which is placed on the outer layer of the eye lens and is temporary.
The ICL treatment is very effective in patients who are suffering from shortsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism (blurry vision). ICL is also recommended if you are not eligible for a LASIK surgery. The collamer lens functions similarly as glasses or contact lenses by changing the way light is focused on the retina.
Here at Aakash Healthcare, you will not only get the best advice but will also be given ample choices for your eye treatment. We have one of the most comprehensive and largest OPDs for eye treatment in North India which rightfully manned with experienced and highly-skilled doctors and eye surgeons.
About Implantable Collamer Lens
The collamer lens is a very small lens which is placed under the eye to support the eye lens in creating a better vision. It is a flexible lens which can be folded in to a small particle and can be injected into the eye through a tiny self-sealing opening. The lens then sets itself between the iris and natural lens. The lens immediately improves the vision. Though, it is a long term treatment but the lens can be removed or replaces in case of any other eye problem.
Why should I opt for ICL Treatment?
It is one of the most effective treatments in improving your vision and is purely harmless. It is made from bio-material called collamer, hence the name collamer lens. It is easily accepted by the eyes and is not rejected as the ‘foreign tissue’.Its flexible nature makes it similar to a natural lens allowing it to fold up and ease back to its shape without creating any trouble to eye. Not much care is required as the lens is safely placed inside the eye. However, regular check-ups are always advised. There are two types of collamer lenses which will be advised as per your eye problem:
Toric Lenses: Toric lenses are used in case you are suffering from astigmatism (blurry vision) along with farsightedness or shortsightedness.
Spherical Lenses: Spherical lenses only targets farsightednes or sightedness and is not cylindrical in shape like toric lenses.
How will I know if I am suitable for ICL treatment?
Any treatment at Aakash does not begin without proper consultation and examination. Before, the ICL treatment, the doctor would conduct proper eye examination and it is after one on one consultation that the treatment will be conducted.
